What program did you use to design your dress? I want to make one also but i wanted an easy way to design one on the computer. One more question how much duct tape have you used so far??
I started to respond to this but I realized it was getting a little long for just a comment. I'm going to go make a post about how I design my dresses on the computer in a little bit. :)
As for duct tape -- I used about 15 rolls, probably. I highly suggest getting some plain silver (don't get *cheap* stuff, it probably won't work too well as it tends to be sticky. Most traditional silver duct tape is still cheaper than colored, though, and it's sold on bigger rolls.) to put on the backs of your duct tape "fabric" if it's going to be a piece where the inside isn't going to show.
My biggest suggestion though? Find a pair of good scissors and stick with them. I have a pair of plain red-handled scissors that cut through duct tape like magic, suitably named my duct tape scissors. Working with poor cutting tools is the number-one thing to slow you down, because every single strip you use has to be cut!
The skirt is completely duct tape over a fabric hoopskirt. The bodice is duct tape over an old shirt. The bow is totally duct tape too. So, it's mostly duct tape.
Cool, i decided to make a dress out of fabric. i used a design cut out the fabric and then i am going to tape over it and piece it together. Thanks again for all your help. let me know how your prom goes and good luck
